“You speak perfect English!”That is the hottest phrase for students in the chilly winter camp located in Harbin. Facing so many wonderful English learners all over the country, campers felt proud and surprised.
Proud, because at least I was one of the fantastic group; surprised, because I am really curious about how could they—those smart fellows— master the language just like their mother tongue!
And on account of this, the camp held an English learning experience exchange on the morning of Jan. 12. It was a GREat opportunity to discover the secret of language learning and also a great opportunity to share one's English study stories with the very best students, the very best listeners.
The meeting was held in the Reporting Hall of our camp—Harbin No.3 High School and began at 8:30 in the morning. Msafiri, the foreign teacher from Zambia, was an administrator with GREat humor.
The first one to hold the microphone was Dou Wei from Qinghai Province. He was full of passion and spoke like a machine gun. It seemed that he wanted to pour out all that he knew. Frankly speaking, we did benefit a lot from his
speech. He's something.
After that, a girl from Beijing raised a very interesting question. She was puzzled by the balance of English and the other subjects. Both the foreign expert and one of our campers answered the question. Joseph, the old guy who can speak 5 languages, advised the girl to make a neat plan on spending study time. Robert, the boy from Chongqing said that if a learner can look at foreign language study on a higher level, he would understand that English can help, not harm you, to think in a more logical way.
The meeting, from start to end, was full of pleasure and hot discussion—sometimes even argument. All the people there talked and debated and tried hard to sell their tips on English learning. Msafiri was a very clever man. He led the meeting in the right direction silently and he taught us to sing a song during the short break. Everybody was as happy as clam. Everybody was excited and listened attentively.
Everybody gained a lot from the sharp thoughts, sharp brains and sharp tongues.
At the unforgettable meeting, we left our footprints behind and we thought they would be helpful guides for the learners along the journey. We walked along the road, we stuck to these guides along the road and we knew many more neon lights would appear ahead. Let's go together and move on!
