1．later；later on
later 是副词，表示某段时间之后。例如：
Two days later，she came back．两天后，她回来了。
later on 用作状语，表示不确定、不具体的时间，意为“以后”、“后来”，常位于句末。例如：
I'll tell you all about him later on．有关他的全部情况以后我会告诉你。
2．above；on；over
这三个词都表示“在……之上”的意思。
above 指一个物体比另一个物体所处的位置高，通常两个物体不相互接触。例如：
I saw the moon above the roof．我看到月亮在屋顶上方。
above 也可表示“超过”、“……以上”，一般和数词连用。例如：
It weighs above five tons．这东西有五吨多重。
on 指一件东西在另一件之上，物体与物体的表面相接触。例如：

over 表示一个物体在另一个物体的正上方，两者之间位置是垂直关系，但不接触。例如：

3．short；low
这两个形容词都表示“低的”、“矮的”，但用法不同。short表示人的身体“低矮”，而low则表示建筑物、山等“低矮”，也可表示声音、价格、温度、位置等的“低”。例如：
Jim is too short to reach the apple on the table．吉姆个子太矮了，够不到桌上的苹果。
The old man lives in a low house．那位老人住在一个低矮的房子里。
The temperature is too low today．今天的气温太低。
