Thanks and Response 指导 (2)

[日期:2007-05-02]   [字体: ]

What we've looked at are expressions which can be used either when we've been helped or when we've been given something.
How about thanking someone for a gift? Know any good ways?Have you seen these?

     How wonderful!

     What a lovely gift!

     This is a marvelous present.

     Just what I've always wanted!

Specific situations can be named in the thanking process.

Easy to see what has been done in the following examples:

     Thanks for bringing me home.

Thank you for doing the shopping.

Thank you very much for washing the dishes.

Thanks a lot for getting me the book.

Very kind of you to buy my ticket for me.

Thanks for giving me such a nice time.

I'm very grateful for your showing me the way.

Thank you for coming with me.

Very good of you to do the ironing.

Nice of you to cook supper like this.

Can't thank you enough for lending me the dictionary.

I'm really very grateful to you for having me.  (after a visit and after a good meal)

These are all to be used after one event. Some more universal expressions to thank someone for assistance or for some help are these:

     Thank you for your assistance.

I don't know how I'd've managed without you.

It's very good of you to have given me a hand like this.

     You've been a GREat help.

     You've helped me no end.

I couldn't have done that on my own.
