Do you konw why an elephant has a long nose?
1．Long long ago，an elephant didn't have a long nose．It only had a short one like a pig．At that tim e there was a little elephant．He liked to ask questions．And m ost of the questions were difficult to answer．
“Excuse me，have you ever seen a crocodile？And could you tell me what a crocodile likes eating？”The wood said，“I am a crocodile．Now come near．I'll tell you quietly．”
But after that day，the little elephant found that his long nose was very useful．It could hit the flies．It could pick bananas from trees．It could carry wood．
2．One day he asked his mother，“Mum ， what does a crocodile（鳄鱼）like eating？”The mother didn't know，either．So he went to ask a bird．The bird said to him ，“You can go to the river and see．”
3．So the little elephant went to the river． When he got there，he saw something like a long piece of wood on the river．And the wood was looking at him．He asked the wood politely，
4．As soon as the elephant was near to the crocodile，the crocodile caught the elephant's nose quickly and tried to pull．The elephant was very afraid and tried to pull，too．But neither of them could succeed（成功）．
5．At last the little elephant pulled his nose out，but it was one more metre long now．“How terrible！”He thought．So he was very very sad，crying and going home．
